Living Room Designs
Your living room design depends on the way you use it. If it is a home entertainment center with full cinematic TV and sound system or is it normally used as a place where you spend time with friends and family? Once you know what the basic use of this space is you can make some design decisions. In the old days living rooms were primarily for entertaining guests and sitting with friends and family. By creating an environment that is relaxing and in tune with socializing with friends and guests the room can continue to play this role. An entertainment center with a few sofas all facing a massive TV screen isn't going to make it easy to have a conversation especially when everyone is facing the TV.  Most of us end up using our living rooms for both purposes; a TV room and a living room. By placing a coffee table in front of the sofa and chairs in front of the TV we create a mix of the two design environments. The sofas face each other but the TV can also be viewed. Although not ideal this is the best compromise without actually having a separate space for the TV room. Sometimes the kitchen becomes the social living room especially if its large and open. With high chairs and counters its becomes more conducive to talking than sitting in front of a television. Watching TV around your friends house seems pointless unless you both want to watch a particular program. Designing a dual purpose living room is difficult but can be done especially if the TV can be hidden away using some cleverly designed furniture.
